I took back to Snip-It's this morning because he was in desperate need

of a haircut. While I happen to like his Beatles look, it's just not practical.

He did EXTREMELY well; Snip-It's is a place that has video games you can play

while you are getting your hair cut. I also had 's Game Boy handy. :-)

I stayed with him while he was getting the cut and kept telling him how well he

was doing. We decided not to go with the electric clippers because when the

hairdresser turned them on, kept turning around in his chair to look at

them and we both figured he wouldn't be very comfortable with them. Instead,

she went with the scissors and even SHE commented on how well was

behaving!

He got a VERY big hug from Mom after we finished!

He may have been curious; but the times I have tried to use them on him myself,

he's bucked and moved his head while screaming. I've wondered if the noise

bothers him.

Sam was so difficult at the hair salon that I have to cut his hair

myself now. I bought a pair of thinning scissors from my hairdresser

and this has made it easier to make a nice job of it. Sam is also not

keen on the clippers (turning around to look and also scrunching his

neck and shoulders, making it difficult to get at the back of his hair)

but his father and I have persisted with them and have found that Sam

is improving with each haircut! We sit him in his evolution chair with

the shoulder straps on so he cant rock or move around so much and sit

him in front of the tv. His father is on hand to hold his head still

when required. We also try to cut his hair more often so that it

doesn't take as long. I used to absolutely dread having to cut his

hair, now it doesn't seem so bad. It is a bit like the whole 'Brushing

Teeth', 'Cutting Finger/Toenails', 'Giving Medicine' - Sam was

absolutely awful to deal with in the beginning with these things but

has eventually accepted them as part of the routine. Its always much

harder for him to get used to something that doesn't happen that often.

Way to go !

Snip-It's sounds like a cool place.

I pray for the day that gets through a haircut - he's very Beatle-esc

right now too!

Congrats,

Jayne
