Guest guest
I don't know about YOUR camp, but camp - overnite camp- is the greatest thing since sliced white bread! Sure he learns different things - at camp he gets red koolaid type drinks whenever he asks - at my house no red juice or grape juice that stains. One goal is to be able to learn different behaviors in different places - a good goal. Guest guest
Camp is a wonderful saving grace both for me and Ashton's wellbeing..... She is going twice for one week stays this summer....woooooohooooooo :-) her first camp experience sucked but they were idiots...... now she goes to Camp Baker in Richmond and I love it........ She is cared for and flourishes in their environment.......while she's gone.....I flourish as a single female.....lol :-) Laurie, I say try it.....you need a break and so does he..... who cares what the school thinks, they are usually wrong most of the time anyways.........:-) leah-proud mom of happy camper sara cohen wrote: I don't know about YOUR camp, but camp - overnite camp- is the greatest thing since sliced white bread! Guest guest
Laurie ~ It was hard for us to let Dylan go to camp at first, but once I did & realized how awesome the staff was at our camp I felt like I could relax. He learned so much from camp & says " yeah " when I ask him if he wants to go back. I don't think it will mess him up too much - yes a different routine, but a positive one. The school is worried it will mess him up well I dont think so I am hoping it will be during Mics vacation or I have to pull him out of school. I was wondering what everyone else thinks? He will have a one to one and it will be with kids his age group. Laurie
Guest guest
Laurie ~ having just gone through this I totally understand how you are torn. I know that Dylan is older than Mic....but I like you was always hesitant. As long as the camp knows what to expect of Mic (as the school as dr. & I'm sure you have filed out forms) he will be fine. I was so nervous, but the people at our camp really knew what they were doing. Having finally experienced it (Dylan at 10) I realized that he probably would have enjoyed it all along.....but it was me being overprotective. So, it's really your decision, and a hard one, but if I knew what I do now I would have sent Dylan earlier. If you decide to have him not to go this year, there is always next year. You have to do what you are comfortable with. When Dylan went - they all have one on one aides as well. If a kid needs time - they leave the group & have their alone time - doing whatever it is they want. For Dylan it was carrying his tractor books everywhere & taking his time out from the group to go through his books when he needed to " cool down " . Have you visited the camp? Good luck! There will be horseback riding and campfires and lots of singing games swimming arts and crafts etc.I know if I was six I would have had my bags packed.I am going tomorrow to have his ped fill out paperwork and the school they have a really complete history coming from us the school and his ped he will also have a one to one.I dont want to let him go but think Im taking a great experience away from him. Im torn here, any thoughts??? Laurie
Guest guest
If someone is paying for this time for Mic, IMHO, consider it refueling time for you. How effective can you be is you are overstressed from caring for Mic? You deserve a break for 5 days.......
