has MAFO's as well - I usually have good luck at Payless but I hadn't

even thought to try an adidas indoor soccer shoe. Thanks for the tip, shoes and

MAFO's can be such fun - yesterday and today we had doctor appts which means,

take all the footwear off to get on the scale then put it back on to go see the

Doctor! We've gotten pretty fast at it now but it all depends on the shoes!!!

thanks for the idea,

Jayne

Tori wore MAFOs when she was little but hated them. We would put them on,

and she refused to stand. Seeing we were trying to get her to walk, we put

them aside. What we did instead, was always had her wear high-top

sneakers/boots to support the ankles.

Nope - bought these at Target - under $18.00!!! My older son plays and

coaches soccer - year round. He turned me on to the Target =- he gets them

for his indoor soccer kids.

Sara,

Thanks for the soccer shoe idea!! has worn DAFO's (which must be

similar or the same thing) for a year now. We are actually getting ready to get

measured for a new pair.

Jayne, I've had luck at Payless too. I end up buying wide width and getting

up to two sizes bigger to fit over the brace.

's PT told me about a websight that makes shoes to fit over braces.

They are called Hatch backs. The heal hinges down so you can slide the foot

right in. Then it velcros closed. You actually buy the correct shoe size.

I'll look for the web sight. They are pricey so I thought I would wait till

gets his new braces. I'm still thinking about it. His PT said another

one of her parents bought them and really likes them.

Everytime I have to buy something " special " , I know that I will pay through

the nose. Therefore, I try to find things that work that are NOT special.

Also doesn't LOOK special!! I have heard about special socks for braces!!!

I use tube socks for long braces. For Elie, I buy women's Haynes creew sox.

His shoes look like every other boy's and they are easy for me to put on.

They even stay tied all day.

I bought these same style shoes for one of our foster kids who wore full

length braces. Not to beat a subject, but soccer flats open very wide so

that braces slip right in. Of course you have to take the time to pull the

laces tight and then tie them, but in the realm of things, this is easy.

Hi ,

DAFO's I think come up higher than MAFO's which go just above the ankle bone.

I'd love to see the website for those cool high tech splint shoes - thank

heaven for Payless Wide shoes!

take care,

jayne
