My son, Gareth, is 17 with DS/autism/OCD. FWIW....for those of you in Pa....I think I have a gold mine here!!! Gareth was approved for 16 hrs of respite a month through CBHMP/MH-MR/Pa Mentors. It just started the beginning of Feb. The way I understand it is that CBHMP gave money to Pa. Mentor to provide respite through private organizations. Gareth is getting his from the same group that provides the TSS.....Panessa. This is completely separate from the TSS/BS program. Soooooooooooooooo, call your local MH/MR manager and ask for the paper work for respite. Our kids get it because of the autism.....not the DS. DH and I went out for the first time in months on Sat......had a nice dinner and went looking at cars (boring!!!) Take care, Everyone.
