Guest guest
Mic cannot tolerate washing his hair combing his hair touching his head.Mic sleeps so light we have tried the sleeping cut method he wakes up terified. He seems to sense the scissors are there and wakes right up.My dh has taken over the hair washing because I cant do it safely with him.I am worried hes gonna fall in the tub.We are just introducing the shower to Mic.Mic alway has what we call " bedhead " .One thing we can do is apply deep pressure and rub his head if hes sleepy thats it.I am happy to hear our kids grow out of this.I know most kids dont tolerate haircuts when they are young. Mic does not get right over it either,Mics doctor told me it looks like post traumatic stress after this kind of handling. Laurie

Guest guest
When we went to Kennedy Krieger they told us a few suggestions. They said never go directly to cutting hair or nails. Do some deep pressure or scratching on the head, hands, feet, then give them a bath and use a wash cloth or scrunchy washy thing (don't know what they are called). Also, wash their hair, brush their hair, dry if possible. Then try to start the hair cut. The key they said was to desensitize the area you are going to be working with, Head, hands, feet. Then try to do the task. Also with hands and feet, they suggested letting the kids play in rice or beans prior to the nail trim. Or lotion on the hands and feet, playing this little piggy, etc. Again, trying to desensitize the area. We do Jake's hair at home just because he gets less upset but he does still get upset.
