Guest guest
<<Jake is extremely affectionate and interacts and plays with other kids at times. I don't see ever getting a full Autism diagnosis.>> Hi, Everyone....Holly...this doesn't necessarily mean Jake won't get the 'A' dx. Gareth can be social, interact and affectionate, too. It's all on HIS terms, though. Margaret

Guest guest
Ditto for Jake also. He can answer questions like numbers, letters, shapes, etc. but only when he wants to do it! I like to think the combination Dx makes him more loveable. On the other hand I had an Autistic client who was not dual Dx and he was affectionate to some degree. I really think it is an individual and time thing. What I mean by time thing is there are just times that the cute little Down's personality I have loved since my little neighbor girl 30 years ago is prominent in BR and other times it is reversed. I am always grateful for the special moments where he is cuddly and loving but I can't count on them. For the most part BR is affectionate in public to friends from church and in places he goes frequently. He doesn't always communicate with them but he always hugs. The only problem is if someone comes up behind him and strattles him.
