Guest guest
I just saw Geraldo on Bill O'Reilly. Geraldo was all over how autism is a pyschiatric condition and while he ranted about the poor parents of kids with autism, he seemed to sugggest that "medicating" this condition which was the norm was opposed by Scientology. He mentioned pharmaceuticals and diet as being the standard for treating autism. He must be a fan/follower of NAAR. oops, forgot about ABAHell, if being anti-med is what Scientology is, then I guess most of us are Scientologists.Sounds as if O'Reilly has it right. I think I'll email him and let him know that MOST of us are against medicating our kids.that's: Oreilly@...if you wish to opineSubject: OT: People Mag-- Jett/Scientology controversy cleared upTo: EOHarm Date: Saturday, January 10, 2009, 3:11 AM The new People is out and cleared up a few things about Jett, the Travoltas and Scientology. It was a really, really sad article and I don't feel very well right now, but I'm glad at least that the family is being let off the hook. Apparently, Scientology *does* recognize autism but, like the environmental movement, they don't see it as a psychiatric condition but as a medical one. The representative went on to say that the church would never make medical diagnoses on behalf of anyone. The rep said that the church has no say in actual medical treatment for illness-- that members who are sick go to regular doctors and take prescription drugs and seizure medication for seizures, etc.-- they just disagree with the use of psychiatric drugs for "mental illness" or ADHD. Also, the article said that Jett had been on a wheat-free diet. I don't know if that's a hint that Jett was on GF/CF or that he was clinically celiac. Guest guest
Well, Scientology has to do with belief in extraterrestrialism and some other stuff but I think their views on drugs have become simply pragmatic in the past ten years or so, based on side effects and brain damage, not anything mystic. Geraldo has been incredibly strange for years. Who knew that O'Reilly would start coming down on our side against pharma in some places. You'd never have seen it in a crystal ball a few years back. > > Subject: OT: People Mag-- Jett/Scientology controversy cleared up > To: EOHarm > Date: Saturday, January 10, 2009, 3:11 AM > > > > > > > > > > > > The new People is out and cleared up a few things about Jett, the > > Travoltas and Scientology.
