Guest guest
Hi, My son will be 22 in three years which means the school will release him and then we will have to decide what to do. The whole system is based on the idea that there is no recovery. The school system is pressuring us to sign away his rights in order to get services (which may or may not even exist) and put him in a group home. Our advocate which I thought was on our side is now advocating this as well. We are a political family and our son was proud to have cast his first vote this year. But the advocate says sign his right to vote away. My son handed her, her coat indicating she should get out of our house. I also hear that if we move to another state that we may get better services (we are in Virginia). Surely there are alternatives, what resources are out there to help us with this? My view is that we reclaim the family farm in WV where we can live our own lives and to heck with services. But as I have had pointed out what happens when we die? I'm sure that I am not the only one facing this situation.
