Guest guest
Hi all, Its been a hectic few weeks here. But today, I heard something that made me smile. Layne's class along with the Deaf Ed class went on a field trip today, I went along to help. It was at a therapuetic riding center. Kids went on a train ride, a hay ride, saw horses, cows, miniature horses and the highlight for some of the kids was actually seeing a chicken lay an egg! Anyway, talking to one of the paras in Layne's class she asked me how Layne is percieved when we take him out... we take him everywhere with us...She goes, " I just want to make sure, because ever since I started this job (last year) I realized how important it is to advocate for the kids. " Made me feel good. Halloween was a success. Layne dressed as superman, no mask, hat or makeup. but he did great with the costume. We had to take the cape off though b/c the other kids were pulling it to get his attention. We trick or treated in two places and they got more candy than they can ever eat. Next Monday, our older son (12) has his first appt. w/ the dev. ped. He is ADHD, but has major sensory issues, also. Also, and I forget what its called, but the 'super bionic' hearing? Where normal noises to us drive him absolutely crazy. Tues is court hearing. The boys dad is suing for joint custody,,, sat thru wed. Doesn't understand the need for routine and scheduling. They have no case, it is just very frustrating. We've filled out the paperwork to get Layne on the list for assistance. The wait here for the pre 18 year old aid is down to 10 months and the over 18 one is down to 4 years (from about 11). We had Layne's iep last week. We are really happy with the team and that they listen to us and our suggestions/needs/wants. His teachers that don't sign are learning (the Deaf Ed teacher comes in 30 min a day to work with them). Sorry this is so long. I just needed to talk. --------------------------------- Yahoo! FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click.
