Guest guest
started taking Risperdal 1 yr ago and only at night at .75 ml now he takes 1.00 ml broken into 2 doses. .25 ml in the morning and .75 ml at night. The first thing I notice is he understands much better cognitively, he sleeps through the night and now he tries to communicate more.We of course do not mean he is chatty but his speech is picking up.Now the risperdal has helped with the bads behaviors too but he still has them. Some of 's behaviors are OCD or Obssesive Compulsive Disorders and we may put him or try him on another med for OCD.Most people think with medicine you will see overnight success but you must be patient and give it a couple of months. Because when they put our kids on these meds they put them on such a lose dose just to make sure they tolerate the meds and can increase the meds each stage/level as long as no side effects. I am always amazed when someone says I took a medicine for 2 weeks without results because mind altering meds usually take longer and possibly need to be increased to see any results. Hang in there and keep working on the communcations but as we give our children more of a way to communicate this to lesson the negative behaviors. I hope I have helped.
