Guest guest
I think I started coming again in April and then left again...sigh I truly intended on staying this last time...sometimes I feel like my brain has space for only so much...and everything else is put aside. I write the same desperate post every time I show up again, and will do my best to avoid it this time around! Breif (very breif) update... is doing ok. Not great, not terrible, but ok. It seems the best explanation at the time being. He is currently back at the old school I took him out of, namely because there is nowhere else for him to go that won't require a lengthy ride. As it is its a half hour there and back. For those who might not remember, I drive him back and forth to school because I was fed up with the bus situation that was on going...that being said! I am much happier with school, but I would still rather him be somewhere else. I have several questions 1. Has anyone else's kid done the whole bathroom thing..and by that I mean wipe, flush toilet... and then suddenly stop doing it for no apparent reason? used to do this just fine, and now he doesnt want to wipe or flush most of the time. Its bugging the heck out of me because I thought by 13 the bathroom issues would be long over. 2. Is echolalia and repetetive speech the same? will repeat certain phrases over and over but he doesnt repeat what I just said. One of his favorites is, " I'm so happy! " When he first started it I was thrilled because it was a whole setence... but he will repeat this over and over, and even during a ourburst. In the beginning I responded with " I am so glad. " Now if I don't say it or change the subject, he will keep repeating the first phrase until he hears it. 3 Should I start accepting that the speech won't come? This plagues me all the time and I worry about it a lot. He's 13 and it seems to me he should be saying more. I remember going to the DS conference in Philly and being blown away by a seven year speaking regularly! will say things, but never conversational type speech. His speech teacher believes can talk normally but chooses not to. I'm not sure about that, though at times he will say things that amaze me, and then I wont hear anything like that for awhile. One day I came into the living room and I saw him looking at the tv and moving his lips as if her were reading something. When he saw me and I asked him if he were reading, he stops and says in a weird voice, " A is for apple! " as if he wanted me to not know. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Should I be looking into more speech? Sorry to ask so much, I know its a lot to read. Thanks again:) Marie Mom to 13 DS, Bi-Polar?? behavioral issues
