Guest guest
Hi Irma, We are home from the fair and I just happen to look at my emails at 4:30 am,lol. I am so grateful for Gail's help. She is absolutely exhausted. I hope she is still my friend after this past weekend. I will give her your message. Guest guest
Hi Irma! Ohhhhhhhh, sure hope all he travel plans work out for you! Would be Soooooooo nice to meet you, finally! Wow, that is cool about the camp counselor for a Caribbean Cruise. You'll have to share everything, step by step. Is home for the summer, or does he attend ESY? Been VERY busy here with Seth home every day. But, I do believe that he has made more progress than he would have at ESY, so it's well worth it. Course, I'd keep all my kids home all year, if I could. I really miss homeschooling the girls. Gail :-) Hi Gail, Its in the works to try to fly out there, hopefully when you can venture out there when its one of those " see it to believe it moments " ,Ind., TN, & VA. to visit whoever we can. This is one of those goals that I would love to meet anyone from the group list. No promise for now as you know how this works, of course around everyones schedule, but I'll think positive so that it will happen. Even if its one of those getaway weekends. We travel standby and even when hubby is unable to travel without us, I'm starting to get the hang of traveling with by ourselves. has made tremendous progress in this area by air or ground. Here is something I'm looking into which I never would of consider but how time flies with different views, just like coming out of my shell on the shyness area. I just received a letter & a free magazine from one of my friends out in Dallas that the founder and editor of the journal called Spectrum, for Parents of Children with Autism & Developmental Disabilities, that the company sent it as a gift for attending the Autism Camp this summer, if I would like to become a counselor for a Caribbean Cruise for families with children with autism starting Nov. 27, 2005. This sounds interesting so I might look into it. Time will tell if this works out for me as I've been invited to numerous workshops and conferences at discount prices and paid or maybe I just can't say no as they have been very helpful my way when needed for which will benefit from. On the Caribbean Cruise they're looking for more counselors if anyone is interested. This summer I wanted to focus on 's medical issues, strict diet, supplements, Movement Program, Chiro, the ongoing ABA/VB sessions, and the ESY Program along with following up on the chart. http://www.ds-health.com/recordsheet2.htm Great improvements except a draw back this past weekend, ended up eating some pizza and you can imagine its like feeding a druggie. Love to meet y'all, fingers crossed. Irma,17,DS/ASD

Guest guest
Irma how exciting I know you will do great. How wonderful so many replied to your survey. Louise Re: Charlyne Why thank you Charlyne, The best Cheerleader to have aboard, coming from you. Thanks! Friday is a Task Force meeting on representing SA with information that I have gathered from many whom I have been in contact with. Too many have been calling me or emailing me whom have been interested hearing about and what they could do for their child? Of course I told them where is at, it took some work and for them to remember that is . I decided to turn it around and then asked away " What were they're concerns? What do you want for your child? I then decided on a survey to pass around and boy did everyone reply. The person whom invited me to become her partner was so impressed to see alot of replies, that I had actually motivated people to share their stories. So with the parents concerns information I will be presenting at this Friday's meeting and to see how much to target the main areas for the biggie Town Hall meeting at a Texas State Conference next week. I am getting the jitters. Dear Lord give me strength. Thanks for always being there everyone, but please be my shadow. Irma,17,DS/ASD -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
Hi Irma, I know exactly how you feel. I had the jitters when I spoke at a conference last year. I am not a public speaker. It's my worst fear. I survived by keeping Zeb in my mind and remembering all the difficult school issues I had dealt with in the past. I did just fine. Zeb was asked to speak this year. He and his ed consultant along with his elementary school team will be showcasing Zeb's inclusive program. Zeb will answer questions from teachers and administrators throughout the state. I will assist him if needed. You will do just fine. Remember when you were the parent desperately looking for answers and how happy you would have been to get the needed information. It will pull you through and give you the strength to do a great job. Charlyne Mom to Zeb 12 DS/OCD/ASD? mum592001 wrote: Why thank you Charlyne, The best Cheerleader to have aboard, coming from you. Guest guest
Hi Irma, I'm so sorry to hear of your fall. I hope your back is ok considering all the back issues you have had in the past. does communicate. He may not have the speech but he does use other means. He gets his point across. Give these parents this information regarding communication issues. They need to hear that piece too. I know I'm such a clutz. I might contact my friend the Chiro so that I could get a good adjustment, well after they do an x-ray. Never fails. I remember this on your conference. I would love for to communicate, but no luck in this area. I will keep this on mind on your last verse of your message. Appreciate it very much. Guest guest
Hi Irma, I am taking one day at a time. I believe not ever having a child with intellectual disabilities in their classes, the teachers had very low expectations and fear of being unable to teach him. It is usually a fear of failure on the teachers part that presents problems. Once they actually met Zeb the teacher's realized that they could teach him. The principal has a high need for control and is not happy he was forced to do something that he did not initiate. It's was a control issue that was difficult for him to loose especially to women. He will get over it and hopefully understand how rewarding inclusion can be if done correctly. He is already taking credit for Zeb's success,LOL. The ed consultant and inclusion facilitator spent endless hours putting Zeb's program together and training the staff. We have all shrugged our shoulders and let him take the credit. Whatever works is ok with us as long as Zeb gets an education and is happy. Charlyne Mom to Zeb 12 DS/OCD/ASD? mum592001 wrote: Thanks for sharing Zeb's update. Glad the teachers are enjoying having him aboard and not judging him like the princpal did. It does sound like it'll be a good school year, not bad for JR High, now that everyone is on the same page for now. Guest guest
Hi Irma, They listened because you have walked the walk and are an expert. I attending a workshop to complete my national standards yesterday. They are not required yet but I will be set when the time comes. It was a long day that I could barely afford to give up with my fair schedule. Charlyne Mom to Zeb DS/OCD/ASD? mum592001 wrote: Whatever works is ok with us as long as Zeb gets an education and is happy. > Charlyne > Mom to Zeb 12 DS/OCD/ASD? > Charlyne, Your not going to believe this but for some reason I figure this was going to happen where the Principal was going to want to take credit. Well, as long ya'll have the principal where you need him at this point this a foot in the door and certainly correct what counts the most is having Master Zeb happy and educated. Todays, Task Force meeting went well. I really thought I was just going to sit there and listen but you were right, the thought of what I have to go through with did bring the hidden warrior out of me. I can not believe I have certain important people who works with the community actually listen to who knows what I said. I can not believe this is actually happening. In the mean time I've been busy suggesting some ideas to several who have emailed me from a bordertown I grew up who lacks what we have when working with kids with autism. Other people had suggested for them to move out. So they like my suggestion as they want to stay where they're at. I told them its going take some work and it will involve their community. Next week the TEXAS AU State Conference the- Town Hall meeting. This time I will zip it as I'm counting on others to speak at this one with all the information that was sent by my friends. Unless I find my cue. Irma,17,DS/ASD -------------------------------------------------- Checkout our homepage for information, bookmarks, and photos of our kids.
