Guest guest
HE sees and edcation consultant everyyear, i just say doctors cause when we go to iowa city, he sees many of them , its easier than allt he technical names. the school does do more than just the edmark as i have said in the past, nothing seems to be getting through to him as of yet, and it takes time to keep trying new things to see if they are working or not. contrary to what you beleive i am doing my part and we are constantly turing to his ed consultants and teachers to try and figure this out , we have been for years, nathan is different than zeb as all our kids are and i was jealous but also hopeful that by the time nathan is 17 he will be reading too. I ejoy the list and love everyone here dearly but PLEASE dont tell me anymore what nathan needs unless i ask a question, you always always make me feel like i am not doing enough or what i am suppose to be doing. I knew before i even relpied you would have something to say like this, just dont offer unless i ask. shawna
Guest guest
Hi a, I wanted to make you aware that doctors are not educators. They have little knowledge choosing appropriate reading programs for children with intellectual disabilities. needs to be evaluated by a reading therapist or educational consultant that can find a program to meet his needs. I remember he was being taught the Edmark program which is basically sight word recognition but that program does not teach you how to read. It can be used with other programs for dolce words ie the and there with etc. words that require instant recall. needs multi sensory reading strategies. He can learn to read with the proper programming.
