Guest guest
Hi everyone, Ian came to my class today, and agreed to take questions from my fellow students. He was great. He waited quietly while I talked about Down syndrome and autism, occasionally giving me the cutest adoring look. Then he came up front and took questions -- about his favorite book (Harry Potter), favorite movie (Grease), what he liked to do in school (math -- and then he showed them touch math on the board, addition and subtraction), what he liked about Grease (Olivia Newton-), what he liked to do in his spare time (video games, netsurfing). He was fantastic. When he left, the class applauded and he has been talking about the applause since. The paper and presentation both went well. I want to thank you all for your help. I presented your stories to the class, and all of the stories were moving and meaningful. Now comes the next step, and I'm hoping for some more pointers. Where can I find information about CURRENT research about the dual diagnosis? Any ideas? Google isn't very helpful for this. Thanks so much to everyone! You're all great resources and truly generous and kind. CK, Mom to Ian (2/89), <-- star of the show (9/90), and Rose (6/94)
