Guest guest
Goodmorning everyone! Can anyone offer me any information about the Kennedy Kreiger school program? I know that they have a school program there, but was told from my school district that it was not for Mark. That it wouldn't accommodate his needs. We live in PA and right now there is nothing educationally available near home or any openings if that. (Deveraux (Philly area), Lakeview (New Hampshire), Cove Forge (Altoona, PA). Mark has DS/PDD, Intermittent Explosive Disorder, non verbal, uses PECS and sign (knows about 7 signs) He uses both the PECS and sign minimally. Does anyone have any info. they could share about the program there? I've gone online and it looks great, but I need personal experiences. Guest guest
My Elie is at Elwyn, son School. They have a day program and a residential program. It is located in Media in Delaware County. No adversive techniques are used. They use a structured behavior modification room (basically time out with quiet time and very calm big men to offer the mostly boys who have " out of instructional control behavior " a means of learning to control their behavior internally while external controls are used. . While I am not thrilled with the acaademic portion (nor with my son's ability to learn academically!), behaavoriaally this school has been quite successful. The school psychologist is GREAT at writing behavior plans and helping in the implementation.
