Guest guest
My 13 year old (aspergers)grandddaughter came home from school yesterday in a fowl mood. We started doing her grueling two hours of homework. Somewhere in the conversation she began telling me how all the kids went to the nurses office and someone was in there examining their spines. The women told her to take off her sweatshirt. She was very resistant and asked why (got to love her) The women told her that she just wanted to check her spine for scoliosis. My granddaughet just had her physical three weeks ago (she is the one that called the Dr a pervert, remember the post) and the MD checked her spine. She told the women she did not want to do take her shirt off and that her Dr. just checked her for this. This is what infuriates me. She was told its the law you have to let me check you. I gave no consent for them to check her. Then I did something I shouldn't have. I started to yell at her for not holding her ground. I told her she had every right to refuse and demand that they call me. She said she did not know. I told her in the future if that happens never allow the school to do any medical check up on her. I alwasy keep her home from school when they have the flu shot clinics for this particular reason. Then I said to her, what if they were lining kids up for the flu shot and told you it was the law. What would you do then? She said she would run from the building. I told her NO ONE has the right to force you to take off any of yours clothes, or check any part of your body without my permisssion. I have to tell you I am smoking right now. 1. they never informed me, or asked for consent, 2. She lied to her and told her that it was the law. They are conditioning these kids to believe they have no right to refuse anything. I want to go to the shool this morning but I'm affraid I'm going to get into big trouble. Any suggestions? I really feel I need to address this.
