Hi everyone,

This is , mom to Autumn (DS-ASD) and 6 others. We deal with the

throwing problems too and dumping. If we are at the table and she is in the

high chair I turn the chair around away from us just for a minute and remind

her " no throwing " . I am not totally consistent with this approach, but she

seems to be doing it less when we are eating. Also if I watch her close and

take it from her before she throws it and tell her " good girl, thank you for

not throwing " or " that's good, hand it to mommy " she seems happy with

herself. We still have food on the floor every day, but it is better now.

Away from the table is harder for us because she tends to throw things that

are big and heavy. Trying to get to her before she throws seems to be the

best thing, also we take away the object she threw, although she doesn't

seem to mind at all. In her room I put away a lot of her toys because so

much was just being thrown around, at least if she dumps and throws now

there is less to be cleaned up.

Also she did something special for the first time today, She was playing

in her pool and she came over to me and leaned against me and said " Kiss " .

It was the first time she initiated a kiss and actually asked for one. I

almost cried it was so sweet. I need to go. everyone have a happy 4TH of

July!

Hi ,

that's really helpful, thank you. I will certainly try the turning the

chair around from the table, I think that's the type of thing that will

work with Rebekah.

I bet you've been walking around with a smile all day, when they do

something gorgeous like that it makes all the hard work worthwhile

doesn't it?

thanks again
