Trisha doesn't like to use the shower or at least she didn't until just

recently. We have a shower that can be hand held as well as on the wall. She

signed she wanted to take a bath so I went and started the bath water, well

somehow she managed to get her stuffed elephant into the tub without me seeing

it

(now mind you it's not a tiny elephant to begin with). She took the handle

of the shower and started washing the elephant and then she would spray it on

her own head. She found that if she sprayed it on her waist it tickled and

she kept doing that over and over. Before if I tried to use the shower she

would cry and try to get out of the tub and even now when I use the shower to

wash her hair she will whimper but if she does it she is fine. So now, I

tell her to get her hair wet and I lather it and she rinses it. Oh, and the

first time she had a fit when I had to ring out the elephant and put him in the

dryer to dry but this last time she actually brought him to me to ring out

and put in dryer. Sometimes I think when someone does things to you (spray

water) it's harder to accept than if you are the one doing it. I'm not sure

how

to explain but it's kinda like if you are spraying yourself you mentally

prepare for it, but if someone else is spraying you, even when they tell you

what they are going to do, it still is like a surprise and becomes unpleasant

at times.

She isn't typical, She's Trisha!

Hi All,

Just received an email that my incoming emails from yahoo were being

bounced, so fixed that. I was thinking it was a quiet weekend but

chalked it up to everyone being busy on the 4th.

We picked up on Saturday and it was so good to see him in such a

good mood. That afternoon we went to see Bewitched, enjoyed it and

I enjoyed parts of it, Dad slept off and on. Sunday Church, the stop at

Walgreen’s to get a magazine, in the afternoon we went to his

sister ’s house. We had a very nice time. They have an above

ground pool and it was such a joy to see enjoying himself with his

sister , brother Jim, and niece . The rest of us sat and

watched. When thought we had done it all he signs, time go. We

have known from the past sometimes we can ask him to wait a little bit,

but other times we have to go. Monday we met his other sister and

family for a local parade. After lunch he begins to talk about going

back to his house, he was back by 3 PM.

Andy dh and I were talking about how he can’t stand to be sprayed by

water as noted during the parade when they use the big squirt guns. It

is the same when they sprinkle holy water in church, he hides behind me.

He of course loves to spray someone with the water gun. I remember

hearing a young woman with autism speaking and how touch was so painful

for her. Even though will hug us and touch generally doesn’t

really bother him, possibly the water spraying is painful for him, or

maybe he just doesn’t like it.

Irma has not seen Batman Begins but will put it on the list for one

of his weekends home.

We will see now if I am connected again and get this back. Enjoy the

summer. Louise
