Hi Tammy,

We haven't found a special needs DR yet but would love to. So far what we

have encountered is the DR wanted to put (15) on Depo -- which all but

stops her periods--- We tried it for one shot and it didn't work so well with

her but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work for someone else. They didn't do

an exam...their main focus was the shots for stopping the periods all

together....sorry I can't be of more help but I would like to say to be prepared

for

the birth control questions etc....I wasn't and felt intimidated....I had a

hard time with it stopping the period all together, in my naive mind I

thought it would be better for her to have her periods, more natural...but I may

be wrong there.....

My friend's daughter did the depo thing and had no luck too. I was of the

understanding that it's wise to wait until the girl is done growing before

starting menses-halting meds. Something about bone growth? Maddie

started her period back in December, but it's been sporadic and so far, not a

problem.
