Guest guest
was wonderful at the Special Olympics at the Tracks and Fields yesterday. He could not wait to show off his medals at the Movement Clinic afterwards. Only had 2 events but what a joy! Seems to be improving each year. 2nd place softball throw, 3rd place 50 yd. track. His buddy companion was a beautiful girl whom he just adores from the same High School he attends which she visits every week for Friends Having Fun Day. Her friends had also agree to volunteer at the S.O. They were the High School cheerleaders. The S.D.A.P.E. (school district director adapted PE) took his picture with the group of girls, they just loved him and of course . Can't wait to see the pic when she gives me a copy. Another child 8 or 9 y/o boy with DS/ASD in Elementary, same school district but different date finally was allowed to participate as I had mentioned to his older brother that I he was ready for S.O.and yesterday at the Movement Clinic when he saw 's medals, he told me that his brother had won some too and had to place one of the medals on his vehicle. Too cute. Just to know some of us parents had to fight to make sure this event did not get cancelled. It all worked out as it was schedulled at an appropriate time this month instead of next month and the weather was just beautiful and everyone had fun. Guest guest
Hi Irma, Congrats to . He has come so far. I can't believe my posts are finally going through. I have been in a mess with this change over to DSL, so much for technology when you are not too smart. I have been reading but not being able to respond with my big mouth was stressful,LOL. Guest guest
Thank you to everyone who responded on this. It was such a joy and you know what? I did not even have to be the one assisting him like I use to. He is becoming Mr. Independent of course still need supervision and guidance but what progress and with a lovely assistant. I'll never forget when he was running towards a different direction than the track, the waiting, the crowd, the loudness, etc. Us chasing and sometimes carrying him as he would want to climb the bleachers or just have those terrible meltdowns. On another note Dr. Beyer from UTSA here has decided to have a summer Motor Development Clinic again and would like to work with again. Looks like a busy summer for him. I can not say no to her as I have to take advantage of it and its a free program and is the only 16 y/o as the program is aimed for the younger ones. His High School teacher is going to teach the ESY program and I went ahead and said yes. After that, then to the Motor Development Clinic, ABA is squeezed in here too. Plus I also received a call personally from a DAN doc who wishes to also be part of 's world, not so much for the money but she is a caring person who has worked with a lot of kids with autism and told me that has a lot of (severe)autism in him. I could tell she like the challenges. This I love as it use to be like a deck of cards picking out the right doc and still had to hold my breath for the never-ending wishing for some HOPE. Just awesome. The other plan I wanted try this summer was Music Therapy, Hippotherapy, swimming lessons, Chiropractor (adjustments) & maybe a weekend camp. Which I know he is ready for. Isn't this nice? As once upon a time there was nobody who was able to work with him and now he has many knocking at the door. Thanks! Irma,16,DS/ASD > > Great BIG congrats to , and you Irma.
