Guest guest
<<I'm sorry what type of classroom is Gareth in? Self-contained or mainstreamed? is in ALE = Alternative Learning Experience (self-contained) in the AM, PM bus over to a Vocational Training Center for the remainder of the day>> Hi, Everyone....Irma...Gareth is in the HS taking classes in the resource rooms. Basically, it's the level C classes for all kids.....those with disabilities and plain. ole regular kids that just need a lot of help. He takes Reading, Math, Science, PE, English all year. This semester, he started the cooking and driver ed course. He is in 10th grade and changes classrooms like all the other kids. That in itself is amazing to me 'cuz at the beginning of 6th grade, he couldn't stand the commotion in the halls during the changing of classes. The reason he is taking the Driver ed course is because he drives me nuts with his 'back seat' advice and I wanted him to learn what he could about 'the real thing.' I would never let him get a licence. <<I know Gareth is not too far from this journey, too. What type of preparation are in store for Gareth? Does the school he attends have any type of Vocational Programs?>> As far as after graduation....I am in denial!!! I know they have Vocational programs here but Gareth is soooooooooooooo set on going to college. He wants to build houses and he thinks he is going to Penn State like . I don't know what I will do in 2 more yrs. Maybe they will have a program in this area where he can go to a local college and do vocational programs from there. That is what they do in State College, which is where he got the idea about going to PSU. I am like you on the house issues....not ready to walk down that road just yet. Take care, Everyone. Guest guest
That story brought memeories to me too which i can laugh about now, it use to take four of use to cut nathan's hair at the barber shop , it was awful but as he got older he finally started to sit up there with no problem, but our barber retired a few years ago and ive tried a few salons but they do a terrible job and are too slow and he will only sit for a few so i learned how to cut his hair with a trimmer set and nowadays i cut all my guys' hair including hubbies, lol, so now wonderful salon time is all my own every few months or so,lol shawna
