Guest guest
Oh - I have to keep my humor about this whole thing as it is just crazy what we do to get by with these little cherubs! I have never cut his hair except when he is asleep as well to just trim up the bangs, etc. ... But I'm wondering if it's worth it anymore to head out in public for this very abusive looking haircut saga. What you do is a great idea! It just might be worth a try. I'd rather he scream here then in the haircut salon, at least we are used to it. Thank you so much for the idea, I will try it next time and report back. I just wonder if it will ever get easier because he's getting so strong and big too. Friday we went to do a repeat CBC to recheck his WBC count - find out tomorrow what that problem is... It took 5 people to get the lab done but thank goodness the lady got him on the first stick! Poor was calling for Daddy the entire draw, broke my husbands heart when I shared that with him later on in the day. That same day we had castings done for new splints too - good time as well but we made it through. Thursday we are going to the Dentist for the first real visit. The kids dentist in South Dakota was wonderful, he would let get up on the chair after the big kids went and he checked his teeth out twice and told me they looked good - he didn't ever try to clean them but assured me things were going fine in there. Well, this will be our first appt and I'm a little nervous. It's at Portsmouth Naval Hospital here in Virginia where they have tons of services including pediatric special needs dentistry. I'm really hoping these people are ready for what's coming their way with the protest of . If anyone has any tips to share, I'm all ears... Thanks again for the haircut tip, I really appreciate it. It generally takes two adults plus mom to hold him down for an exam, and he has to go under for a dental appointment, sooooo the barber shop is out of the question! What has been working for me, and might for you too since is young, is an old car seat with a five-point harness. I strap him in and his loving brothers each hold an arm while the video plays, Josh screams and I cut as fast as I can with my husband's mustache scissors (blunt tips. I get two or three minutes at the very most, but it seems like an eternity! Then I try to straighten things out while he sleeps. He usually starts to squirm after the first snip, even in a deep sleep, so I patiently wait a bit and snip again. After about a week of nightly visits he looks a little like Raggedy Andy, but at least he can see! -------------------------------------------------- Checkout our homepage for information, bookmarks, and photos of our kids.
