Guest guest
Margaret: That is so funny how much these kids are alike! GAVIN is the one that put the closed caption on his TV in his room. I am a little embarrassed to say I have NO IDEA how to turn it off. I tried many times and figured he did it so I'll let it go. He will go up to the screen and point to the words and say " IT SAYS " and then give me a line of gibberish, or actually pick out some of the words he knows. These kids are soooo smart in some areas that it is scary. Has anyone had this happen?.... Gavin will get on his computer and when I go in to see if he needs anything I find out he has changed the configuration of the desktop. He also will make the screen smaller, change the size of the icons on the desktop, and change the color of the Windows screen. The one day he got me and said he needed " help " . When I went in it said he was transferring files... Most of the time we have no idea what he has done, much less how to correct it. Then a few days later it will be back to the way it was. I thought it was just a coincidence, but this goes on all the time. Patsy I never heard of Tomatis until now. I went online to find out more about it, but was not able to get any specifics other than it is a listening skill. Can you give a little more description? Thanks /Patsy/CK <<Gavin has learned to sight read certain words because of these programs, as well as the Love and Learning tapes. Hope you have a great trip! >> Hi, Everyone........that is how Gareth got such a large sight word vocabulary!!! He would insist on 'closed caption' on the TV and 'read' along to his videos. Patsy....I have never heard of Tomatis but will ask G's psych. in Jan. when we go. He's up on all the new meds. CK....I agree with Gail. You are paving a path for the rest of us and if I remember correctly, at the time, you really had no choice because Rose was a baby and you were afraid for her. It's good to know our kids can function and blossom out from under our wings. Well....we're heading up North. Have a safe and happy New Year, Everyone.
