Guest guest
Hi Group, My name is I've been here for a while (mostly lurking - and learning). My son is 7yrs. isn't toilet trained and I'm hoping for some suggestions? The school is really pushing us for advice on this and it's not working for us at home either. has a few words he will use and is just starting to use pic symbols. I have another question - about meds. We are currently in a study at Sick Kids in Toronto and it's a double blind study...we're pretty sure he is on some sort of SSRI and we have noticed a bit of a change in the past 3 months but he has seemed to have hit a plateau. Is there anyone from Canada here that is using meds for their child? If so what kind and is it helping? Thanks wrote: There are 5 messages in this issue. Topics in this digest: 1. Joan, It's like you read my mind - I'm so happy to see this post. I've been trying to figure out the best way to handle these bajillion picture cards I have all over the house. This looks like a wonderful site that probably has just what I need to keep them all neat and tidy. Guest guest
Hi ~ I can't help but can tell you that Dylan, 10 is such a picky eater. We have presented food, and presented....(as they keep telling us to since he was a baby) and he won't eat hardly anything. He eats less than 15 items & often only is eating 5 of them for weeks & then switches to the next 5 (peanut butter on bread, breakfast, lunch & dinner, then he'll switch to chicken nuggest for his meals). He will not eat unless it's his certain kind of food. Ruffles potato chips. Can't even get him to eat the generic brand, or Lays Wavy chips. It's weird. And, we've tried to say, no, if you don't eat this you don't get dinner....and has gone for a while not eating because he won't eat " normal " dinners or lunches. Once his diabetes set it we were a bit more easy...since eating is such a big part of the diabetes management though. So, we've come to the conclusion that peanut butter on bread is ok....at least he's eating. Good luck! Guest guest
Just a suggestion.... We use this vegetable/fruit drink called VRUIT. You get it at the whole food market or a natural food store. It is juice, made from both fruit and vegetables, but it taste like oj, apple juice, etc. My Jake loves it. Now, he does eat almost anything and getting more diverse in his eating as of lately. But, I can never count on him eating fruit or veggies. So, this helps us get them in. You can freeze it for pop cycles or just make it really cold. Jakes would prefer nothing else so we have it always here when possible. I just can't stop raving about this juice (all natural and organic). If you can get your child to take it, it helps so much! Good Luck! Guest guest
It's worth a try so I will hunt it down too. He likes Apple juice - there's an eensy weensy shmidion of hope. He loves chocolate milk too so I thought he would tolerate pediasure, my chance to get some nutrition in him. I'm still hopeful of getting a can a day of that into him - he lives on nothing and is getting thin. We've gotten 2 sips in him but I'll continue to try. If he would drink this VRUIT or even V-8 splash, another good idea - that would be something healthy at least. THanks for the tip Holly. Take care, Jayne Holly Giglio wrote: Just a suggestion.... Guest guest
Jayne, Have you tried Carnation Instant Breakfast in chocolate? Craig practically lived on that (as well as vanilla yogurt with creamy peanut butter mixed in) during the years he barely ate. Bev
