Christmas with Ian

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to update you on our time with Ian. He came home on Thursday, and

was here until yesterday -- which was just enough time for him before he got

antsy to go back to Pathfinder, and was still twice the time he spent at

Thanksgiving. So things are definitely improving.

Ian aws incredible this break. He came with us to places where he'd had trouble

before, and no trouble this time. We went to restaurants -- no problem; we went

to friends' houses -- no problem; he went to bed on time and without a fuss, all

but the last night (and that was because he was anxious about going back), which

means *we* slept too. He was cooperative and communicative and *reasonable* for

the first time ever. He didn't tear up his room, he came to dinner when called,

he made transitions easily as long as we gave him warning.

This was a different boy we had here. It really was miraculous. I hated for

him to go back, but I know this is the best place for him -- look at how

wonderfully he's turning out with them working with him. We hear terrific

things about him in school too. And we see him understanding things we never

saw him understanding before -- like the concept of time: past/present/future.

That was foreign to him before, but he gets it now.

He's almost 16 -- in February -- and when he went without shaving, he got

bristly. My baby!

Hi CK,

I'm glad you did because you and Ian were in thoughts.

Thanks!

CK,

I LOVE hearing Ian's updates. :-) Do you know how much this helps pave

the way for the rest of us who will walk the road you are on? To know that

it's possible to *let go* and that your child will do so wonderfully and

actually blossom? You are a great source of strength for many of us!

Gail :-)
