Guest guest
Trisha started when she was 11 and she still isn't potty trained fully yet. Trisha wears depends which is great for the period as well. We have begun an intense toilet training session for her and our goal is to wean her off the depends for normal wear and use them for night wear and for her periods. We just make sure she is changed more frequently and that she is wiped at each change. I was given some information about potty training a special needs child and I will scan it and email it to you if you want. Carol Trishasmom She isn't typical, She's Trisha! Guest guest
Donna Sorry I don't have any advice to give you, but I sure can pray that you have the strength and patience to get through this!! My thoughts are with you. Help?? Hi All, Maddie's school called today. She got her period. I am in shock. She turned 11 last month!!!!!! Alison, only a year older, hasn't gotten hers yet!!!!!!!! Although my other daughter got hers exactly to the week Maddie did.....one month after her bday. But the endo thought she'd more than likely follow my path which was at 13. YIKES!!!!! You all know she's not potty trained. Ideas? Advice? THoughts? , aren't you the one who had lots of advice on this in the past? I shelved it thinking I'd hit you up in two years.....looks like I need help NOW!!!!!! Donna
Guest guest
<< Maddie's school called today. She got her period. I am in shock. She turned 11 last month!!!!!! >> Same age as - I used to pray every night " Please god, just give us one more year " << You all know she's not potty trained. >> Actually being potty trained has stood in the way of us keeping a pullup on her during her period or harnessing her into some devious outfit she can't get off. I don't even think that's possible for her anymore. Will Maddie wear a pullup? <<Ideas? Advice? THoughts?>> Yeah, start drinking, buy alot of peroxide (takes out blood) and get ready to do alot of laundry. Sherry who has just gone thru the third month of refusing to wear a pad during her weeklong period (after 4 years of being perfectly trained). I am sooooo fed up. Guest guest
Hi Donna, Excuse my delay in responding to your latest problem.I am so very behind in reading and responding. My thought is because Maddie isn't trained maybe she may not realize the difference. I think that part may be good. I would not have a clue what to do other than to use the pullups. I think that's why I was given a boy. I was lucky with my girl in that respect. She was 16. Charlyne Mom to Zeb 12 DS/OCD/ASD?
Guest guest
Sherry, Your first post to Donna made me laugh. The second post made me cry. It was lovely and truly got to the heart of the matter. Therese > <<Ideas? Advice? Guest guest
I'm just going to throw some things out there. I want to preface this by admitting that I am not a parent!!!!! When I worked with elders who had some incontinence we looked into " depends " or depends-like undergarments. Some of them actually have more of an underwear feel to them but are reinforced in certain areas with absorbant materials. They are adult undergarments and may not hold the same meaning as pull ups. I don't know about any of you but I know I hated pads!!!! Plus at 11 (differently abled or " typical " ) dealing with having your body change is a huge. And not to mention confusing. I wonder how she is experiencing it? I thought I did something bad and that's why it was happening. Deb > << Maddie's school called today. She got her period. Guest guest
Oh Donna, Your baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't even imagine. Let's just hope and pray that Maddie's pica doesn't rear its ugly head in this direction. Seth will be 9 this month and my mind is already gearing towards the boy side of the pica issue.
