Guest guest
If PAthways is only charging $40,000/year, that is NOTHING. All the places I have checked have been around $3,000/month!!! SOAP BOX TIME Ifyour child requires a residential facility - sometimes called an ICF/MR because of health and/or safety issues, then in most states, one can qualify the child for Medicaide waiver funds. When the child's needs are great, in a few states (PA is one) the income of the parent is not counted if the child qualifies by disability for SSI even if the child will NOT receive SSI because of the parent's income. ALSO- when the child becomes 18, even if the parent's income disqualifies the child before age 18, at 18 the child can qualify on his own right. In most states the right to QUALIGY is not the same as the assurance of RECEIVING. There are waiting lists in most places. Get your child registered with your local MR/DD agency ASAP!!!!! There are VERY FEW of our dual diagnosied kids who will not qualify by disability alone. _________________________________________________________________ Check out the latest news, polls and tools in the MSN 2004 Election Guide! http://special.msn.com/msn/election2004.armx
