Dear friends,

I would like to inform you about an upcoming workshop.

Curated by Meg Araneo, and taking place August 2-5, Lines of Flight offers an

intensive four-day immersion in contemporary performance practice. We have

assembled an impressive group of guest artist-teachers: Kameron Steele (The

South Wing); O'Harra (Theatre of a Two-Headed Calf); Gian Murray Gianino

(SITI Company); and Irizarry (Columbia University); as well as Maximilian

Balduzzi and myself. Each artist will lead one or two introductory training

sessions in their own technique or approach of body-based theater, and in the

evenings will discuss or present excerpts from their work.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to get a sense of what

lines of tradition and embodied practice are active in the NYC theater scene

today. The teachers mentioned have direct or indirect relationships to lines of

work including Meyerhold, Grotowski, Suzuki, Viewpoints, and Commedia Dell'Arte.

Yet each works in their own way, tracing a " line of flight " through and towards

possibilities linked to the contemporary moment.

You can download the complete workshop schedule and details here:

We could also use your help in spreading the word. If you are in touch with any

students of theater or dance, with actors who are interested in physical

approaches, with dancers who are interested in theater, please take a look at

the workshop information and consider forwarding this information to them.

Thanks, and I hope to see you soon!
