Guest guest
Irma; <I will check my calendar and see if I can attend this event. When I say check my calendar, it means I am due with baby number 3 in October. This is definitely a conference that I want to attend. My girlfriend and I attended the conference in Houston last fall and both came home with ideas galore. This would be a very interesting one to go to especially since she works in the school district. I probably won't attend any others until after the baby is born. This pregnancy has been extremely difficult. That's why I haven't been on in a while. Tollefson Tollefson 9 ds/asd Elisha Tollefson 3 going on 20 ---------------------------------- Hi , Congratulations on baby # 3 may all go well. Have you found out what sex, yet?Wow! is 9? Interesing soon to be an older brother to 2. How is he with Elisha? I can see you have your hands full and taking it easy with this pregnancy. Do you mean with Kelle Wood? Is so that is great that you have someone supportive with the school district. I think she has just expanded her learning center out in Austin since I last saw her in April at Dr. Carbone's Workshop. I spoke to Gail Wayman and she too told me that she is opening a Learning Ctr. out by Plano this month when I saw her last month, said she had posted it on the Texas list sometime the beginning of July, she'll have the same interventions as Kelle's school provides which will be great. I'm pretty sure Kelle Wood would be getting with Gail Wayman to hold future workshops for the parents. Aren't you nearby? What timing as you have some knowledgeable people out there that will not require for you to travel out of town. I know once baby is born it'll slow you down some, but nice to know what is available in your area. I'll be attending the Corpus Christi State conference in Sept., so the workshop with Kelle Wood is pending as will be back in school and I have to work around this. If I do attend and all is well with you and hope to meet you there. Thought I share a wee bit of Mayerson form notes shared by one of my cyberfriends who has attended his conference: If you do not own a fax, invest in one!-- Faxing correspondence to your district is a more reliable record than certified mail. Don't ever allow a letter from your District to go unanswered. Convert meetings from what you what the child needs. Get independent eval's. It could be beneficial to videotape (10 minutes or so) of your child every 3 months when NOT in a structured setting to validate the need for ABA and more hours. Take a log of all phone calls. Take care, Irma,16,DS/ASD

Guest guest
It's a very nice area. Don't know about special ed programs, but they have a highly recognized educational system. Houston has a strong DS group.
