Money is not a simple business transaction between therapist and patient, but a complex interplay of power, desire, connection, and separateness for both parties. It is also the one distinct area where the therapist's need is acknowledged and expressed. Many therapists feel uncomfortable addressing fees, payment, and increases fully because it goes counter to their identity as helpers or caregivers. Creative arts therapists especially struggle with this because our work is often marginalized instead of seen as of added value. Yet many clients who seek our help struggle with poor finances, bad financial decision-making, and other unhealthy relationships with money. What better way to model prosperity than to nurture it in your own practice? In this fascinating and truly transformative workshop, therapists will be given the clinical framework to understand and integrate the role money plays in the therapeutic exchange. They will find that not only do they have permission to ask for it, but that doing so sets the stage for healthy growth for their clients as well. Indeed, if we cannot fully own our worth and power as therapists, how can we help our clients own theirs? Using a combination of art-making, case presentations and discussion participants will learn: * how financially empowering ourselves helps our clients * the clinical and symbolic meaning of money in the therapeutic exchange * how to indentify personal beliefs and messages about money and how * they impact the transference/ counter-transference * how to use concrete issues around payment, non-payment, fee increases, and fee policies to further our patients' treatment and therapeutic goals Facilitated by Kachina Myers, LCSW, ACSW and Nadia Jenefsky,MPS, LCAT We now accept credit card payments for easier registration. NY Creative Arts Therapists and Art Spa are located in burg, Brooklyn. Just three easy stops from Union Square, on the " L " train.
