Guest guest
instead of trying to pull him away from what he loves so much, try incorporating it in your activities. For instance, if he loves watching Buzz Lightyear you might have a picture of Buzz and some crayons that he can color while keeping an eye on the tv. Trisha will read a book and watch a movie at the same time plus have her computer program going and it doesn't seem to bother her at all, now ask ME how much all that going on bother me! lol. Guest guest
Hi there I have recently become childminder for a gorgeous little boy aged 5 with Downs Syndrome and Autistic tendencies. He has no speech and I am finding it so hard to stimulate and occupy him throughout the day. All he ever wants to do is watch videos. I have given him crayons and puzzles but too no avail. I want to do something new, fun and interesting with him but have no idea what to do. Any ideas greatly appreciated Bexley

A good way to get the attention of a little 5 year old is to play peek a boo. You may think he's too old for it, but I bet it gets him to look at you. Guest guest
Hello, My son is now 12 and has autism and down syndrome. He loves to swing, he really enjoys his wooden train set (brio or brand), anything he can line up--beanie babies, socks, etc. he also has a homemade sock monkey that he enjoys, he also likes to get in his pop up tent, yoyos, slinkies, feather dusters, anything that helps with sensory issues. We usually have a video on, but he's usually busy playing with his train or something and doesn't pay a whole lot of attention to it.
