Guest guest
LOL LOL yes!!! I AM laughing- I was laughing at the subject line and I didn't even know what you were talking about. I've never seen any crabs running around here; we do have foot long lizards and grasshoppers as big as helicopters that come out once a year. Now a REAL Floridian would " reroute " those little puppies right into a lobster pot and fill it with boiling water. Are you near the St. john's River? We used to go over there from daytona all the time to feast on crabs. Maybe you could capture them and take them to one of the distribution sites. People would be very happy. These poor little crabs probably had the roofs blown off of their houses and alot of flooding LOL. They're just trying to get back home. You go to the grocery and buy some " crab boil " spices and you'll be in heaven; I think I still owe you an email about VB right? I haven't been able to move till today. More later. enjoy!!! mmmmmmmmmmm :-))) Sherry <<Sherry there has been these crabs one o 2 of them that are big and walk sideways out in our driveway this am there was about 50 or more of them crawling all over the place I am getting the creeps they are coming up the stairs to the door I have only seen them on the beach I wish they would move away got any suggestions?Since I am a NY country girl I have no clue what to do about them I hope your laughing theres so many its not fun to me now.Plus found a lost kitten at the door I took in this am all since this hurricane great now when I get home Ill have 5 cats and a dog.And big crabs,I dont want to kill them just reroute them. Guest guest
Hi Laurie, Bless your heart for lots of things going on, like there is nothing else to add in your life. Sounds like front door service to me, free dinner, just kidding. Any luck finding a fisherman? Are your mom's neighbors experiencing the same thing? The cats are probably inviting everyone to your moms house, what a soft heart you have. Got to go, hope Sherry or anyone else have an answer. Take care, Irma > Sherry there has been these crabs one o 2 of them that are big and walk > sideways out in our driveway this am there was about 50 or more of them > crawling all over the place I am getting the creeps they are coming up > the stairs to the door I have only seen them on the beach I wish they > would move away got any suggestions?Since I am a NY country girl I have > no clue what to do about them I hope your laughing theres so many its > not fun to me now.Plus found a lost kitten at the door I took in this am > all since this hurricane great now when I get home Ill have 5 cats and a > dog.And big crabs,I dont want to kill them just reroute them. Guest guest
Well, have named the kitten Fran after the hurricane and she thinks Im her mother much to the other 3 cats dismay and have been outside shooing the crabs around with a broom much to the neighbors laughter I had a quite a crowd laughing at me.They are seeing them too just not 50 at a time. They have one big pincher on them and look dangerous Im not picking them up.the cats are having quite a time looking out the window too.We have those big lizards they get in sometimes I find them in 1/2 the cats eat the back ends off. Also those big palamento bugs that look like huge flying cockroaches. The cats eat them too.I am having quite the experience of a lifetime down here.I know Im in the " TWLIGHT ZONE " Love Laurie
Guest guest
Hi laurie, I just asked our OT who goes up to sebastian Inlet for surfing about the crabs and he said they migrate once in awhile and they absolutely cover the entire highway and you just drive along crunching over them. YUK. He also said they're like mutant crustaceans or something because they have one great big claw and one little one. Sounds like that's what you've got. Yes, don't you LOVE our giant flying palmetto bugs?? that's just a Florida euphemism for giant cockroach. They are predicted to remain on the planet long after life as we know it is gone. And the cool thing about the lizards is you can cut off their tails and they grow back....but first they wiggle and hop around by themselves for awhile. Ah paradise!!! Looks like all you are lacking is Bubonic plague up there. The kitties must be having a ball. Sherry
Guest guest
What do those palemento bugs eat Ive only seen 3 or 4 of them never in the kitchen? The cats make quick work of them the neighbor says everyody has them once in awhile I only noticed them after the hurricane. All these creepy crawly things are looking for shelter. That must be what those crabs are I wish they would mgrate over to the neighbors house. Guest guest
<<What do those palemento bugs eat Ive only seen 3 or 4 of them never in the kitchen?>> Well, the real test is to go into your dark kitchen at 4:00AM and turn the lights on; you may be surprised. Actually they eat anything...glue, cardboard, just anything; that is why they are nearly impossible to totally be rid of. They will be in old boxes of stored items subsisting on who knows what. They also gather around palm trees so if a palm tree is uprooted or moved they will come out by the hordes. Cats are really good things to have- keeps the population down. You're not planning to go back to NY any earlier are you? We all have disgusting palmetto bug stories down here....like when you're leaning over the sink to brush your teeth and these two long antennae poke out the drain right in front of you, the one at the front of the sink. You don't really want to hear any more do you?=) Believe me it has little to do with how " clean " your house is. We keep about 3-4 75 cent flyswatters handy and have duels. Jim and I act out scenes from crime dramas. These bugs are the main reson women stay married in Florida. it is nearly impossible not to scream hysterically and jump up and down and yell " HONEY!!!!! HELP!!! " no matter how liberated you think you are. And husbands get to feel really macho like they've staved off a grizzly bear at the front door or something. Unfortunately nobody wants to pick them up after they stop wiggling because they are SO huge and you just know they're gonna start moving again. I advise flushing them. Guest guest
Thanks Sherry youve had me laughing all day.Ill have nightmares about these crawly things. And I lived down here 20 years ago we always had an exterminator every 2 or 3 months back then.Cant do that now because my mom has a lung disease. If the doc says my mom can travel sept 29th we are heading back no matter how hard she fights me.Her bones were fracturing due to steriods but we seem to have control over that now, is so hard when your the kid and have to finally put your foot down with your elderly sick parents I have guilt. If its up to her I will never go home to my family and my dh has been thru enough not to mention Mic has no mother. Her choices are a nursing home, hospice house or me,they tell me if I left the state would come in and take over and Im sure she doesnt want that. Am I venting or what. Thanks for the laughter I needed it badly, we will survive this too. Love Laurie
