Guest guest
nathan has had a hole in his right ear for several year but his ent refuses to fix as of yet, says it works as a tube for him, but he still gets just as many ear infx a little more spaced out then when younger. usually gets a versed cocktail before most of his ear exams, we cant hold him down anymore, and i refuse the use of the papoose. he just lays there nicely and lets them do their stuff, even clean out his ears, without even so much as a whine or kick or anything. I thought they repaired them under anesthesia, as they do tubes? shawna

Wow a versed cocktail sounds good right about now he he. We see the doc next Wed when he will explain more of the procedure and we'll talk about meds and all. Yes it is some form of anesthesia and he told my husband it was an incredibly quick procedure...she'd only be out for a few minutes. Will let you know more when I do. Thanks for you response:-) Sherry
Guest guest
My son also has a hole in one ear left from tubes that " stayed in too long " ... funny, I was always worried about them " falling out too soon " . Oh well! We saw a huge improvement when first got tubes, but have not seen problems related to the hole. He has low-to=normal hearing in that ear which is what he had with his tubes too. He also never suffered from ear infections, just chronic fluid in the middle ear that would not drain without the tubes. I guess I would talk to some audiologists as well and get their opinions on hearing ... they are very knowledgable and can sometimes give you more " user-friendly " information than the docs. I can relate to your concern, though .... the last thing any of us need is more impairments for our poor little guys to have to deal with. Good luck, Bo, mom to Pete-
Guest guest
Hi Sherry, Brook had that procedure done 2 years ago. He had a hole next to where the tube was in his ear. His ENT repaired the hole with a patch and inserted new tubes. Everything went fine and it was really a minor surgery. We saw the Dr again last week and one of his tubes fell out and the other is still in place, we are going to see how he does before redoing the tubes.
