Guest guest
Greetings: I know who you are through your private introductions to me. Let me return the favor. My name is and I am currently divorced from my self dx.ex-spouse, Larry. We have three kids, 24, Cass 21 and Brittany 20. Cass is the only on with an official dx. of AS at age 3. All kids and many family members on both sides of our family reside on some sort of the spectrum on both sides. They say for some families like mine it is a family affair. <wink> ASPIRES is comprised of parents/partners/spouses and those with AS so you will find our perspectives different on almost any topic. It is a great list of folks who might not always agree, but our perspectives have value and often help the other side to see why and where are perspectives come from and/or entrenched in. Is it our environment or just that our brains are wired differently? Welcome to ASPIRES. Feel free to lurk or jump right in with a question. Like the movie Westside Story, My family has learned a new way of living and found a new way of forgiving. Welcome aboard. You are not alone. /List Owner
Guest guest
Welcome new people. This is a wonderful group of people with diverse backgrounds & views. I have learned a lot from this group and am grateful. I have not posted in a long time so will re-into myself. I'm an Aussie married to an AS guy, mum & carer to my 2 young adult children - one has autism & is intellectually disabled, the other is extremely ill and bed-bound due to having Ehlers Danlos Syndrome & chiari malformation. My husband was diagnosed with leukemia early this year. It has not been a great year. I am also a counsellor and work from home so I can care for my family as well. My own life and the people I have shared life's journey with have taught me much. Best wishes to all. Merra
Guest guest
Merra, what you deal with on a day to day basis seems absolutely mind boggling to me. You are an amazingly strong person! I hope that you have *some* emotional support where you are. cyber hugs, Helen (54, self dx'd AS, dx'd ADD)
