Guest guest
Hi, 6 yr old daughter almost recovered fromm PDD-NOS whom we have been chelating since July 2006. She has had 49 rounds of DMPS and 44 rounds of ALA along with antivirals, antibacterials and antifungals. We stopped the DMPS last June and started chelating using 8mg of ALA alone, three days on and four days off. During some rounds she is complaining of not feeling well all over and points to an area on her forehead that hurts. On Monday after we end the round she looses her abilities and gets frusterated. When we started ALA we used 5mg compounded. Then we switched to dividing the Kirkman 25mg capsules by three so she was getting 8.33mg. Recently, we switched back to 8mg compounded thinking that the dose would be more precise and she might feel better. Some rounds the side effects seem minimal but recently it seems more noticeable that she is not feeling well on round. Is some general unwellness feeling to be expected? If so, how much? My first thought is to drop the amount of ALA given. It surprises me that we would need to drop the amount given after 44 rounds of ALA but these side effects are happening only on round and Mondays. Getting her up every three hours during the night does not help with the tiredness issue either. I have done a few rounds with only getting her up every four hours in the middle of the night but I feel better sticking with the three hour recommendation. Should we drop the amount of ALA? Any advice as to how to safely share this with her teacher? Public thought we were nuts because we wanted them to give her enzymes. I have shared with the teacher Jacquelyn McCandless's book, Children with Starving Brains and have informed the teacher that she is on a timed medicine only on the weekend and Mondays she may not be feeling as well. Today she had a meltdown after not being able to do her work and I am feeling mommy guilt. She is a child that wants to please and is in a typical first grade classroom in a private school. Thanks for being there. Melinda
