Guest guest Posted September 16, 2008 Report Share Posted September 16, 2008 UAB Granted $5.2 Million to Study Developmental Disease http://tinyurl.com/5z7a9x WBRC-TV -- The University of Alabama at Birmingham's Civitan International Research Center has been awarded a 5.2 million dollar grant to research developmental diseases. The award will be used to create the UAB Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center(IDDRC). UAB was given the 5-year grant from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development as one of 12 institutions in the nation to receive the honor. The IDDRC will replace the UAB Mental Retardation Research Center and research into such diseases as autism, Rett Syndrome, cerebral palsy, behavioral disorders or rare genetic diseases.
