Are they really accepting candidates with Bachelors in Creative Arts Therapy?   That can't be right because they are also looking for someone licensed or with a Limited Permit.

 

Another example perhaps of how misinformed people are about our profession?

 

Creative Arts Therapist-NSU0005EYDescriptionThe Creative Arts Therapist demonstrates our mission by creating a positive atmosphere for our patients. In this role, you have the ability to foster and enhance the creativity, socialization and physical movement of the patients. You will provide creative arts therapy services, psychotherapy and psycho-education to patients on the in-patient service. You will also ensure that safe and proper services are provided.

Responsibilities include:Develops and conducts individual and group creative arts therapy sessions, including long-term and short-term goals based on observation and referrals from medical, nursing and therapeutic recreation staff.

Designs and implements a variety of goal-oriented group sessions that utilize art and other creative modalities including music, drama and dance as therapeutic tools. Assesses effectiveness of sessions and makes appropriate changes when needed.

Plans and implements a structured experience to enhance patient self-awareness and self-expression.Encourages independent creative expression through the use of creative arts, music or related media.Maintains current clinical documentation on all patients' sessions.

Orders and maintains creative arts therapy materials for use in therapy sessions.Assists in the purchase, maintenance, operation and maintenance of audio/visual equipment. Stores and maintains adequate inventory of music therapy supplies.

Participates in all meetings related to the inpatient unit.Participates as a team member in providing continuing patient's assessment and treatment.Attends weekly treatment team meetings, weekly supervisory conferences, and weekly individual supervision with designated supervisory staff.

QualificationsBachelors Degree in Clinical Art, Drama, Music Dance/Movement Therapy or related field, required.Licensed Creative Arts Therapist or Creative Arts Therapist Permit, or must be eligible for registration or licensure within one (1) year of hire.
