Guest guest
I've not been diagnosed with it, but I do have the symptoms you mentioned (weakness in the legs, and terrible memory problems). Do you mind my asking if there are other symptoms to look for? I don't want to be a hypochondriac, but I'd hate to miss something so big. Thanks, Cheryl > > > Hi everyone! > Here's a new twist to the fibromyalgia saga for me... I was diagnosed & nbsp;4 years ago with having " old mini stroke " brain scars, but nothing was done for it. & nbsp; It wasn't necessary is what the neurologist told me. & nbsp; I've had worsening symptoms lately (weakness in the legs, and terrible memory problems) so my doctor sent me to another neurologist who listened to my corotid artery blood flow and suggested that I have Small Vessel Disease. & nbsp; I have to have an ultra sound to confirm, but he seems pretty confident that's what it is. & nbsp; It doesnt sound terrible until you research it... it causes strokes, heart attacks... it sounds like I've been a walking time bomb for the past 4 years and didn't even know it. & nbsp; Ultimately it ends with Dimentia, and I am 40 years old. & nbsp; Scared, I am! & nbsp; One cause is muscular conditions (fibromyhellgia) which causes vessel muscle damage or something to that effect. & nbsp; Anyway... has anyone else had > this diagnosis and what can you tell me about it? > Traci > > > > >
Guest guest
Cheryl, I'm not really sure, this is brand new to me and I really think it depends on the doctor you get because the neuro I saw & nbsp;4 years ago said I had mini stroke scars on my brain but didn't need to do aspirin therapy or anything. & nbsp; The new neuro I just saw was shocked! & nbsp; He said never ever stop taking aspirin and begin immediately! & nbsp; I have to have an ultra sound of my carotid arteries next week, I guess we'll know more then but the one thing I have learned is we are at the mercy of our physicians and after this experience that scares the hell out of me! Guest guest
Traci, I wonder if this is treatable with herbs, diet, or supplements the same way that other diseased arteries are treatable. Maybe you can do some research in that direction, and even get your doctor's ok when you find herbs or supplements that you think will help. I know most of my doctors are supportive of me using herbs and supplements in addition to meds, which is a big change in thinking. Anyway, what I use for my arteries is hawthorn. > > > Hi everyone! > Here's a new twist to the fibromyalgia saga for me... Guest guest
Thanks ! & nbsp; Sorry I didn't respond right away, went to the E.R. Friday afternoon after talking to my new neuro doctor, lightheadedness for HOURS. & nbsp; They just let me out FINALLY, after running test after test and finding nothing. & nbsp; How does a hospital stay where you do nothing but lay around leave you so exhausted? & nbsp; LOL... anyway they found nothing, just another " mystery diagnoses " waiting to happen. & nbsp; Ugh. Guest guest
Traci, That does sound exhausting, and frustrating. I hope your doctors will be able to help, with everything. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply! I'm just getting the email now... oddly, sometimes I dont get these emails for a couple weeks and then they all show up at once. I appreciate your getting back to me! Traci Subject: Re: Small Vessel Disease To: fibromyalgiacured Date: Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 9:22 PM > > Hi everyone! > I was recently diagnosed with small vessel disease of the brain, have had several mini-strokes because of this. Since the diagnosis, I have had a stress test which my doctor said was abnormal so they will do more testing. I'm betting I'll be diagnosed with small vessel disease of the heart as well... I'm getting pretty nervous. I'm wondering if the small vessel disease is connected to fibromyalgia at all. Any information would be greatly appreciated. .. I'm not finding much on the net regarding this. Thanks fibro friends! > Traci > > > > >
