Guest guest
I too have so much pain when it is cold that I just shut down. I finally created something which helps me so much. I made something I call " Warmers " or my kids call them " Snuggies " . It is simply a pillow made out of fleece material and filled with dry uncooked rice. I sew several lines down the middle to separate the rice so its not just one big heavy lump. You can cover the pillow with a flannel pillow case that is easily made to fit it. But its not necessary, the fleece works just fine and in my experience, they will last about 2 years even if used every single night. The ones I have made for myself and family is about 14 inches long by about 9 inches wide. I pop them into the microwave and heat them up for about anywhere from 4 to 7 minutes. Depending on how hot you want them. If you take a warm one to bed it will stay pretty warm throughout the night if kept under the covers. Take a hot one and pop it under your blankets about 5 minutes before you go to bed and you will have a wonderful warm bed to climb into. I then wanted to be even warmer so I made oven mitt shaped ones and also filled them with the rice. I heat them for about 1 minute and its so wonderful to have them nice and toasty to slip my freezing cold fingers into. The pain almost instantly melts away. Then I decided to make some for my feet. Then my husband who is a diabetic wanted some for his feet so I made him high top slippers with the rice inside and on cold nights I warm them up and he sleeps with them on. For a while I was making them to sell but my health does not permit me to do this so now I just share the info with any who want it so they can make them themselves. You can add dried flowers or spices to give it a nice aroma...my favorite was lavender..its so relaxing to go to sleep with that calming scent. I hope this helps some. Give it a try if you can, its truly worth the effort. Donna Hi, I've had Fibromyalgia for about 5 years. I've tried almost everything I can to be rid of it, and some things work some of the time, but there is one thing that I can't do ANYTHING about and that is when the weather is bad. I KNOW when it is about to rain or snow and most of all when it is raining or snowing I'm in so much pain I feel like a vice grip is clamped onto my neck and is clenching my whole body downward. I don't know how else to describe this pain, but it is unbearable. Sometimes when it stops raining, the pain just lifts. Does anyone else have this, and if so, what do you do for it? Thanks, Sooz
