e,

I have heard of the picture symbols system and am looking into it. Before knowing there was an actual science too it, I had made photographs of 'key' things that does, and put the word with the sign language illustration next to it. They are around the house at his visual level. I had hoped that he would begin to recognize the image with the 'want' and let us know by pointing to the picture. He doesn't do it at all. These are very basic images (banana, popsicle, drink, eat, shoes, socks, etc.). Perhaps it takes a long, long time, but they have been up for several months and we have had no luck. My au pair and I try to verbalize and signal them daily with him, to no avail.

I have alwaysdisciplined him like the other two. He is large too,but he has to learn to behave. Let me know if youhave any questions about picture symbols.ewww.interactiveaac.com
