Guest guest
Hi colleagues,I'm very interested in how the brain develops or is damaged by childhood neglect and abuse, and have done a little bit of research on it. Recently, I've begun listening to a series of web conferences sponsored by The National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine, on the brain's ability to repair itself and reverse the effects of toxic experience under the right circumstances. (I recommend this series. It's free if you listen live. Go to www.nicabm.com for information about how to register.) I was inspired by this week's talk by Dr. Siegel, a well-published neuroscientist, to write a new blog post: Creativity, Compassion, and the Resilient Brain.Science is now backing up what I, and probably you, experience every day in our work. I believe as more new brain research comes out, creative and expressive arts therapies will become the highly respected modalities in the field that they deserve to be. If you're interested, you'll find it at http://livingstory-ny.blogspot.com. I hope you enjoy it.
