I posted the letter on ASPIRES. Apparently someone from Autism Planet posted a piece for their blog with a different opinion and they posted it on their home page with PRIDE. > > > > finally responds and I love his message. Some folks with AS and you can include anyone else in this category NS and others are so blinded by depression, anxiety, etc., they cannot convey their thoughts or opinions in a way that is acceptable in our society. These are my words and not his but the gist I got for his post? Our brains are wired differently and you may get another message?? > > > > There is a difference in advocating for a cause or point and pure hate speech for the other side. When your words are pure hate for the other side, NO ONE hears YOUR message they just get angry and attack or IGNORE YOU. We see it on this board and if life every day. > > > > It is about growing and moving FF in your life and why ASPIRES was started and all about. ASPIRES has been lucky to have many member who have climbed the mountain and many starting their journey. It is different when someone calls someone with AS a spade than someone with NS. His response reminded me of Meyer's aka GRUMPY and a past co-founder of ASPIRES with AS. has no tolerance for bad behavior or anyone with NS that puts up with it as many old timers will remember. <Wink> He is a tireless advocate for adults with AS but has zero tolerance for anyone that thinks their label gives them the right to abuse others whether they realize they are doing it or not. > > > > The original post and his response: http://www.wrongplanet.net/ > > > > Comments? Hi , They are very wise words from Meyers and I agree totally with his view. I'm astounded by the rhetoric some ASD people deliver in response to others complaining about their offesive comments. Their defense is usually they are talking in the non personal, they are attacking the comment. Lmao, what a loud of 'BS' roffle excuse for bad behaviour. Defenitely instances where ASD folke appear blunt and harsh in comment with no intent to offend or injure. I have locked horns with a few of these personalities on other autism sites when they are blatantly being offensive and mean to non ASD people. To my horror these same people will bully other ASD folke who are vulnerable and emotional. Anyone who believes ASD and Non ASD folke personalities are vastly different needs to witness the discussions on the autism spectrum website forums. Guest guest
Good morning , I've always thought Carley was one of the more thoughtful, articulate members of " our " community. I feel his viewpoints are informed and balanced. I don't know why he doesn't come to mind more often when someone I know asks me what good stuff is out there on the 'net. Well, I'll remember now. That response was well worth the re-read. He said himself he didn't want to write that letter, and despite its necessarily powerful wording, I still feel he was very civil in his approach. I wouldn't have been *nearly* as restrained! I wouldn't so much compare him to Meyer ...*I'm* probably more like Meyer ... comes out with both fists flying .... but anyway, how is these days? Miss him! - Helen, 53, self-dx'd AS, dx'd ADD
