Guest guest
HI , I live in Australia – I’d love to read some of your jokes if you have time to post them. I think we can all do we with a laugh. Miss G. I can be a thorough researcher, too- and get really into doing many numerical examples, because it feels good to do them. As for 8 items or fewer, there is a joke about that: There was a sign in a grocery store in Cambridge, Mass. that said " 12 items or fewer " or equivalent, and there was a young man in line with 13 items. The clerk said to him, " either you are from Harvard and can't count, or you are from MIT and can't read! " I love telling AS jokes. (Hay, I can tell them, right?) There are quite a few posted to this list. I tell NT jokes too- hope none of you are offended! I don't mind telling them on myself, either. (Why do NTs say that AS folk are laughing inappropriately, when we laugh amongst ourselves at our own social errors? For us, it is comic relief!) So, where do you ;live? BTW, I also like groups of 8 people far better than big crowds. I’m one of those people who write letters to the newspaper about street signs that have apostrophes where there shouldn’t be any. I get irritated about the “8 items or less” aisle at the supermarket, because I know it should say “8 items or fewer”. I like to work alone, not in a team – I’m a mature-age student currently finishing a degree in art history but I used to be a lawyer. I love socialising, but only with about 8 people max, I *hate* large parties. I can’t do small talk – I love your attitude to the challenge! I always end up saying too much about myself, more than I want to, so my preferred option is to listen instead. My ‘islands of AS strength’? I’m an incredibly thorough researcher, I’m *very* affectionate (and so is my AS son) and I have a great sense of humour (that’s why I enjoy so much. Hi ). Happy New Year to you too! Guest guest
OK, Miss Grunge:Read at your own risk- these are not PC--<grin>Q. What's black, white, and read all over?A. An over-literal ASpie, trying to hide his emotions.(And you thought it might be a newspaper?)Q. Why did the face blind ASpie bring a huge sign to the airport baggage claim area?A. His mother was flying in...Q. Why do pregnant women rock so much?A. One never knows when one's baby will be on the spectrum!Q. An ASpie walked into a bar. He bought a beer, slowly drank it, bought another, finished that, and then left, through the inside stairwell. An hour later, he was up on the roof, wondering where everyone else was, and feeling really miserable. Finally, he climbed down from the roof, descended into the bar by a stairwell, , and stomped out, looking really dejected, muttering something about being tricked by everyone there. The bouncer walked outside, and asked him what was the matter. He said, "They lie in here! That sign says that if you buy two drinks, then the third is on the house!Q. How many NTs does it take to change a light bulb?A. Two.. One to do the work, and the second to "help".More later--I think-- anyone offended yet?face blindAS From: Miss Grunge <missgrungewestnet (DOT) com.au> Subject: [aspires-relationsh ips] RE:Was Christianity To: aspires-relationshi psyahoogroups (DOT) com Date: Thursday, January 8, 2009, 12:31 AM Hi , My fragments are what I describe as pedantry.
