This Friday evening, March 25th at 7pm is the next sound bath at Force and Flow Mind-Body-Spirit Wellness Center. We are delighted to present Divya Alter who, with Down, will co-lead the meditation with sacred Sanskrit chanting. Below is more information. Suggested donation is $15 and is always pay what you can. The sound bath is one hour and a half beginning at 7pm. Force and Flow is located at 1102 Dean St. #4 between lin & Bedford Avenues in Brooklyn.

RSVP recommended - info@...Divya Alter will co-lead next week's Sound Bath with beautiful Sanskrit chants

accompanied by Down on glass and crystal bowls and electric tambura.

Divya Alter teaches Sanskrit and sacred chanting

at the Bhakti Center in Manhattan. She is a truly inspiring spiritual teacher with over 20 years of experience studying and teaching Indian spiritual philosophy, yoga, sacred singing and Sanskrit throughout Europe, India and the US. Originally from Bulgaria, she studied and taught Sanskrit in Sweden and India, and has assisted in the translation

of many ancient texts. She also completed traditional Indian vocal training while living in India. Her singing is as spiritually impacting as it is beautiful. She is a co-founder of Life Learning Continuum, a non-profit educational organization, through which she shares her deep knowledge and realizations around the world.

The

sound bath series at Force and Flow is a monthly sound immersion event focusing on the practice of focused presence and mindfulness in the act of listening. The sound baths provide opportunities for experiencing one

full hour of continuous live sound provided by different artists working therapeutically with musical drones including at various sessions: didjeridoo, sitar, crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, Indian shruti box and chanting, drum circles, tuning fork sound therapy, urban soundwalks, and more. Each participant in the sound bath is invited to co-create sound with the facilitators when appropriate to the theme. Or, they may simply bathe in the sound with intention, using visualization, breath work, and mindful meditation.

Down is a Board Certified and Licensed Music Therapist, performing artist and composer. Her music psychotherapy practice includes mindfulness, meditation, pain management with sound, individual and group therapy.

Nonverbal Communication in Dementia Care: A Training Program for

Practicing & Student DMTs

Friday evening, June 10 – June 12, 2011 (20 hours, 1 credit) Donna

Newman-Bluestein, MA, BC-DMT, LMHC,

Ms. Donna Newman-Bluestein, creator of the Octaband, working under the

auspices of the n Chace Fund, won the Alzheimer's Foundation's

Brodsky award to develop the training material for this course.

Student and practicing clinicians who take the course will come away

from it equipped to train caregivers who work with people with

dementia (PWD). This is an opportunity to create a clinical niche, one

that will be in great need now that baby boomers are aging. Although

designed for dance/movement therapists, student and practicing medical

and mental health providers are welcome. Limited enrollment, so

register as soon as possible. Registration closes mid-April.

Even if you are a practicing dance movement therapist who already

knows how to communicate nonverbally with people with dementia, this

class Will prove to be enormously helpful to you. Even if you are

already training your in-house staff in nonverbal communication, it

may be helpful to you. Why? This 20 hour course will provide tools for

the embodied and experienced caregiver of people with dementia to

offer this training module to other agencies. The handouts created for

this course were based on the actual training of 4 groups who

completed the pilot program at Friends Village at Woodstown,NJ, thanks

to a grant from the Salem Health and Wellness Foundation.

Dr. Meg Chang, Program Chair of the Somatic Psychology Program at

CIIS, and Donna Newman Bluestein hope to have completed and ready for

sale a manual to serve as support for those who will be ready to

provide training. Thanks to AFA's 2010 Brodsky grant, an accompanying

DVD is also in the works.

Kinections is recognized by the National Board for Certified

Counselors to offer continuing education for National Certified

Counselors (#5767). We adhere to NBCC Continuing Education Guidelines

Nonverbal Communication in Dementia Care provides 20 CE hours.

In the belief that we cannot and must not turn a deaf ear to the silent

cries of those among us

who have been rendered helpless and hopeless on account of race, religion,

class, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or political affiliation, we

call you to this conference. Together we can learn to use what we know about

empathy, trust, forgiveness and the intergenerational effects of trauma to

alleviate suffering. Help us to create safe, open dialogues that will help

the silenced to speak.

You can make a difference!

Dear Gods and Goddesses,

The Creative Kitchen; A Place for Transformational Healing Arts

is hosting another Intentional Breath work Session with Mei-yann this Tuesday

March 22 at 7pm

Mei-Yann will donate part of the money to Japan.

I encourage students and graduates to join us in these challenging times, this

is a supportive safe community of beautiful people, places and experiences!

in a Creative Healing Space

Are you ready?

What is Intentional Breath Work?

Intentional Breathwork with Mei-yann offers active breathwork meditation for

effective emotional, physical, and mental well-being. Breathwork may access a

profoundly healing and spiritually insightful experience.

Based in the ancient Pranayama tradition, the Intentional Breathwork method

uses rhythmic breathing to quiet the mind and move an incredible amount of

energy in a short amount of time. With this movement of energy through the

body, it is then possible to clear deeply held emotional blocks and allow

yourself to experience great clarity, serenity, and overflowing joy.

It is possible to easily relieve daily stress or achieve the unexpected.

Clients have experienced a variety of benefits:

* Being centered and grounded

* Renewed energy and vitality

* Deep relaxation and ease

* Peace of mind

* Freedom from limiting thoughts, behaviors, attitudes

* Heartfelt joy

* Release of anxiety and fear

* Rediscovery of your individual nature

* Confidence in one’s Self

* Clarity and heightened awareness

* Connection to Higher Self

* Healing of physical discomfortWe're on FACEBOOK:
