Guest guest
Hello all, I have delayed in writing this email because I'm afraid it may be controversial, but I don't intend it to be, I'm just looking for information. With that said, please feel free to offer any comments or knowledge you have about this product. When was first born I heard about some "megavitamins" that were very controversial in the "treatment" of kids with DS. Supposedly they were able to make huge changes in the cognitive and physical characteristics of people with DS. They were listed on the same web page as plastic surgery (I can't remember what it was called) to reduce the physical characteristics of DS. I was horrified, sickened and glad to close the page and never go back there. In my opinion, is perfect. I love her just as she is and would never try to do anything to "change" her DS at all. I do, however wish she were healthier. Sinuses, in particular, are a big problem, as is her general energy level at times. I was sent a link, by a friend who buys nutritional supplements for her son with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, to some vitamins specially formulated for kids with DS. They are suggest that people with DS process some nutrients differently, and can benefit from a different vitamin supplement (they liken it to "Centrum-Silver" addressing the different needs of senior citizens) It is called "TNI" for "targeted nutritional intervention" On their site, they say " TNI is not megavitamin therapy. TNI does not cure DS." But if this is just a more politically correct, less horrifying presentation of the same stuff, I don't want anything to do with it. If there might be some merit to it I might give it a 2-3 month try, but not if it is supporting anyone who thinks DS needs to be "cured"! Because I paid so little attention to the stuff I heard about years ago, I don't know what it was called or what company made it. . .Sara, maybe you remember, or someone else who has been around this issue for 5 years or more (when I remember reading about it.) The link is below, and I appreciate your input. Hopefully I haven't offended anyone just by bringing up the vitamin topic.
