Hi Lori -- I haven't had this experience (yet) with Warren's ears, so I can't offer much advice, but i would like to encourage you to get the copies of previous hearing tests! You absolutely have the right to have them. Get them from all the places he was given them, i.e. the hospital he was born in, his pediatrician's, the specialist you were sent to (ENT, I suppose). If you haven't seen an Otologist, I would definitely request to be referred to one. From what other moms have said, an Otologist is an ear surgeon/specialist, versus seeing a specialist for ears, nose, AND throat. Who knows if they damaged something while in there -- I don't think anyone will ever fess up to this.

You have to just deal with what you know and go from there. He can't hear in his left ear. Get to that Otologist, and if you don't like his/her answers, have your pediatrician refer you to another one. You have every right to keep pursuing this until you are satisfied!

good luck and keep us updated on his progress!

Sue, Yes, you are right. The ABR is the test he had. He also has had the typanogram test. When they test him in July, they want to see what hearing he does have and if he has nerve damage. Now I'm not saying this is definitly what has happened!!! But the more I think about if the sicker I get!!! Follow this, anyone out there, and tell me if I am crazy, or just a worried mommy, and be honest!!!! Garrett newborn test, past! 1 1/2 tested failed, BUT, the Dr. said didn't pass, not, we can get nothing, from the left ear. He said we were in no hurry, Garrett had a runny nose, lets test again in a few weeks and see what that says. Tested again in a few weeks and didn't pass. But again they didn't say he has no hearing in his left ear. But did say he needs tubes, to drain fluid in his ears. Garrett had tubes put in and the ABR test immediatly following the tubes while he was still out. Test showed he was hearing NOTHING from his left ear. Is there a! nyway, they damaged something while they were in there and thats why he cant hear? The Dr. said due to his very small canals he had a hard time getting the tubes in. It usually takes 6 minutes and it took him 45 to do Garretts. He said he had to minipulate the canal, and Garrett even had to be given morphen for the pain, when he woke .Also, if anyone knows. If I ask, can I get copies of all the previous hearing tests he has had. I asked for a copy of the last one. But I don't have any of the earlier ones. I'm really interested in what they say. I just dont know if it's a right of mine to have these or not. I'd like to know before I ask. Thanks to all that are listening and responding.

Lori , Garretts very worried mommy
