So.....what did everyone think?

HI All!!

I'm dying to hear everyone's comments and opinions on "The Guardian". I think I'm definitely too sensitive. I did not like it. Too much sadness. And I didn't like hearing "I'm sorry" from Kate and Jake to Lulu. I wish they said "I'm sorry for what you're going through" or something like that but not just "I'm sorry". Know what I mean? Did you see who directed the show? Emilio Estevez!! I found that interesting. I wonder if he has any experience with Down syndrome. Being pro life I didn't like how they discussed how much time they had to make a decision. And when Mark went for his audition I didn't like how they got a little agitated with "Peggy" by saying "Peggy, Peggy, will someone please find Peggy's mother" but it was said in a perturbed way. It's only 10:22 and I wanted to write this before I read any other opinions. Watch now, everyone loved it right? I do realize that I'm too close to the situation, just like all of you and that I'm so so so sensitive. But, I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone thought. Thanks for listening.

P.S. The good part is they are keeping the beautiful baby!!!!!

Thanks !! And a special thanks for pointing out the good part that I also loved. When the friend said "lots of people choose these kids". That was great. And why not!!!???

Hope all is well with you. Always a pleasure hearing from you.

I couldn't decide whether to watch it or not, and finally decided I would. I do not normally watch the show, so I know none of the characters. One of the things I found most amazing about it, is that Mark's mother would make provisions for him to live in that group home (or whatever it was), but not know enough to make a trust for him to leave any money in. But, about the show -- I guess I am too sensitive too. I did not really like the talk about "how much time do we have to decide?" and it seemed that there was never any talk about the other option -- of adoption. It was like "either we keep the baby or we don't". I did like the father's answer (sorry, don't remember the couple's names), when the mother asked him what he decided. He said "I want to be a father." I liked that. And I loved the part with Mark going up on stage. My son, age 11, goes to a Music, Art and Performance Camp every summer. They do a show at the end of the camp, on a real stage, in an auditorium. Of course, no one ever has to coax Zack onto a stage! I thought of how I cried, when he sang "We Are The World" with the choir two years ago. And last year, he sang the "SpongeBob Squarepants Theme" all by himself!

All in all, I don't think it was a bad show, but it reminded me that many people still think of our kids as "something to be gotten rid of" and even after toughening my skin for 11 years -- I am still sensitive about some things. And they shouldn't put on shows that make me cry, when I have to go to bed. Now, my nose is all stuffy!
