Wow - I sure didn't think my post would take off like it did!

(Plus, it looks like not all of the messages came through on digest so I'll

have to go to the site and read them).

I hope nobody is leaving because of this!!! I would feel bad. I just

wanted to spark a little healthy " debate " on the topic.

Personally, I found the t-shirt offensive mainly for the fact that we work

and fight so hard to get our kids " included " in school and society and

constantly fight for them " not " to be labeled that to put a bright yellow

t-shirt w/a smiley face and big black letters " SPECIAL NEEDS " child is

completely contrary (to me) to all the above mentioned hard work.

My reasons for posting the link and my question - wasn't intended to

challenge anybody's parenting style, etc. I'm sure the woman who is

selling these shirts is a perfectly " wonderful " person and cares for her

child very much, but it whole reason for her making this t-shirt bears the

question - Have we truly come very far in fully including our kids in

school/society if there are still parents out there who feel the need to

" label " their children just so they don't get looked at funny in the

grocery store when their kid has a melt down???
