Drama therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses different dramatic and theatrical techniques. In this four-session workshop, we will play through the use of stories, metaphors, role play, and theater exercises to inspire imagination. Participants will experience transformation intellectually, emotionally and physically. We will be active and reflective. Participants will set goals and explore a current or important story from their life in a safe and non-judgmental space. This course has two components — learning about drama therapy and experiencing the healing process for oneself. This workshop is appropriate for anyone who is interested in one or both areas. Participants will experience a fun, deep, and insightful process with humor in a safe and non-judgmental space. No previous theater experience is required. Anyone interested in getting to know himself or herself in a new way is welcome. Therapists who want to learn unique and creative ways of doing work with others are welcome. Anyone who wants personal growth is welcome. I look forward to sharing the journey of Drama for Healing. Taught in English and Japanese, as needed. Participants need to be 17 years and older and should commit, if possible, to attending all four classes: 5/1, 5/8, 5/22, and 5/29.
