Guest guest
I moved from NY to NJ 6 yrs ago so at that time had spent more time than I had ever expected or hoped to spend learning about NJ state licensure requirements! Re: licensure in NJ, to the best of my knowledge the LPC credential is the highest level mental health license for clinician's with a master's degree other than the LCSW for licensed clinical social workers. The LPC and LCSW are basically equivalent with respect to eligibility for reimbursement from insurance carriers to either us or our clients as well as eligibility for positions within social service agencies. There is also an LAC credential in NJ that can be obtained on the way to getting an LPC and would allow someone to work in certain settings, including private practice, under the supervision of an LPC or LCSW. Hope that helps! Hurwitz, LPC, LSW, MSW, MA, ATR
